Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. ~Nelson Mandela

We are Kari Hughes and Shanan Bunzendahl, 2 friends in Michigan who decided to do what we can to make a difference for women and girls around the world.  As we learned more and more about the issues faced by women and girls throughout the developing world, we knew our goal would be to help women gain independance through business building.  These women have survived sex trafficking, war, poverty and cultures that do not value the life of a girl as equal to that of a boy.  By buying their handmade products and bringing them to the American market, we become a lifeline for income and business growth that was not previously available.  Our mission is to inspire consumers to help change the lives of women around the world, simply by changing where they shop.  Fair trade is an essential part of the solution.

Buy The Change offers in home trunk shows and fundraising shows in the Detroit Metro area.  Plans are in the works for a Advocate Program that will create jobs for women in the U.S. and allow us to offer in home shows throughout the country.
